Summer moons printable pack: Seasonal learning for June, July and August

Explore the Strawberry Moon, Buck Moon and Sturgeon Moon

The Summer Moons Pack is designed to carry your family slowly through summer, from the long light of the June solstice to the ripening hedgerows and harvest hints of August. Inside, you’ll find simple ways to notice the season, follow the moon, explore world traditions, and make space for creativity at home.

Across the pack, children can learn about traditional full moon names, track moon phases, keep a nature journal, read moon legends and fables, explore festivals from around the world, respond to poetry and art, make summer crafts, try seasonal recipes, and enjoy practical outdoor activities. Each month has its own rhythm.

  • June follows the Strawberry Moon, long evenings, ripening fruit, butterflies, and the summer solstice.
  • July explores the Buck Moon, high summer, swifts, wildflowers, strength, growth, and long outdoor days.
  • August follows the Sturgeon Moon, harvest fields, blackberries, heather, late summer stillness, and the first small signs of the year turning.

The pack brings together nature, folklore, science, geography, history, art, poetry, food, and creative writing in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Families can use it as a seasonal curriculum companion, a moon study resource, a gentle nature-based project, or simply as something to dip into through the summer months.

There is no set order and no need to complete every page. Choose what fits your time, energy, weather, and family rhythm. Use a few pages each week, follow the full moons, save activities for slow afternoons, or revisit the pack each summer as part of your seasonal traditions. You only need to print the pages you want to use.

The stories, crafts and activities are written with mixed ages in mind. Younger children may enjoy the drawing pages, simple crafts, food activities, stories and nature hunts. Older children and teens can go deeper with the folklore, cultural notes, poetry, art studies, discussion questions and writing prompts. Many pages can be adapted. A young child might draw what they notice in the evening sky. An older child might research the moon’s movement, compare festivals, write a longer myth, or create a detailed nature journal entry. The Summer Moons Pack is made to grow with your family.

It invites children to notice long light, warm evenings, moonrise, ripening fruit, buzzing meadows, harvest signs, and the quiet changes that begin to appear before autumn. Move slowly. Choose what fits. Let the summer moon lead the way.
