Mabon pack: autumn equinox activities, folklore and crafts
What is Mabon? Explore harvest, balance and the turning Wheel of the Year
A printable autumn pack for seasonal family learning. Folklore, crafts, recipes, nature study and reflective activities for all ages.
Updated for 2026 with new pages, refreshed artwork, extra activities, folklore, crafts, food ideas and a fuller seasonal feel.
Mabon is the autumn equinox, a quiet turning point in the Wheel of the Year. Day and night stand almost equal, orchard fruits are gathered, hedgerows grow heavy with berries, and the darker half of the year begins to draw closer.
This printable Mabon Pack is a seasonal family resource for exploring balance, harvest, gratitude, folklore, nature, creativity and the slow turn towards autumn. It has been created for home education, seasonal learning, nature study, Wheel of the Year celebrations, and families who enjoy marking the seasons in a thoughtful, practical way.
Inside, you will find beautiful pages about the meaning of Mabon, the autumn equinox, harvest customs, Mabon ap Modron, Persephone, the cornucopia, autumn colours, seasonal foods, poetry, art, nature walks, crafts, display ideas, recipes, puzzles, colouring pages and reflective journalling. The finished pack runs to 70 pages and includes a mix of information pages, activity pages, craft guidance, printable templates and creative prompts.
You do not need to use everything. You might read one story, make an apple and blackberry crumble, create a small autumn display, go for a slow nature walk, print a colouring page, or use the reflection prompts around your Mabon meal. Some families may use the pack over a few days around the equinox. Others may return to it slowly through September and October.

If you bought the 2025 Mabon Pack previously, you don’t need to buy it again. I’ve completely refreshed and expanded the pack, and the new edition is yours as a free update. I like these resources to be something families can return to year after year, so when I substantially improve an existing pack, I want previous customers to benefit too. You can download the latest version from your Payhip download purchases page, or from your original post-purchase email. If you enjoy the new edition and would like to make a small donation (either here, or by entering a 'pay what you want' amount on a freebie listing) towards the time spent researching, rewriting, illustrating and updating it, that would be very much appreciated, but it is entirely optional.
This was the first Wheel of the Year pack I made for Dartmoor Kin, and since then the collection has grown and settled into a clearer style. The newer packs have fuller folklore and cultural stories, stronger art and poetry studies, more nature observation, practical family activities, and pages that are easier to print and use. So I came back to Mabon with fresh eyes, a large coffee, and the usual dangerous belief that “just a quick update” would be quick.
I’ve kept the heart of the original pack, but reworked it throughout. The new edition includes improved information about Mabon and the autumn equinox, clearer historical notes, autumn equinox and harvest celebrations from around the world, the story of Mabon ap Modron, Persephone and the seasons, the cornucopia, Mabon colours, English autumn nature study, creative writing, poetry and art study pages, display ideas, crafts, recipes, colouring pages and printables.
I’ve also corrected typos and a few errors, because I am, inconveniently, only human! The layout has been refreshed too, with less ink-heavy design and a softer, more consistent Dartmoor Kin feel.
If this pack becomes part of your autumn, I’d love you to share the shop link with another family who might enjoy it too. Please do not share the PDF itself. Word of mouth helps small seasonal projects like Dartmoor Kin keep going, and it means a great deal. Mentioning Dartmoor Kin, writing a review, or posting a photo of your family using the resource is always deeply appreciated.
