Beltane Pack | May Day | printable activities & ideas for kids & families
What is Beltane? | folklore, nature study, art, crafts, poetry, and seasonal traditions for May Day
This Wheel of the Year pack is a gentle, flexible way to explore the richness of late spring with your family.
There is no set order and no expectation to complete everything. Dip in and out. Choose what fits your time, energy, and family rhythm. You might use one page on Beltane itself, or stretch the pack across the weeks that follow. Return to it each year and notice what feels different. Blossom changes. So do we.
This beautiful 100 page pack is designed for all ages. Younger children may enjoy the crafts, colouring, and simple nature prompts, while older children and teens can explore the folklore, symbolism, history, and reflection in more depth. Everything can be adapted to suit your family.
Learning is woven together in a natural, interest led way:
- History and culture: Beltane, May Day, bonfires, maypoles, and seasonal customs around the world
- Folklore and mythology: The May Queen, Green Man, Jack-in-the-Green, hawthorn, and fairy lore
- Literature and storytelling: Seasonal poetry and creative writing
- Art and craft: Flower crowns, mini maypoles, Beltane displays, and art studies
- Food and cooking: Learn about simple seasonal foods and edible flowers
- Reflection and wellbeing: Nature journalling and gentle prompts
- Puzzles and colouring: Printable activities and crafts inspired by Beltane
You might set up a small seasonal display, gather flowers, go nature journalling, bake together, or make a simple garland. Follow a theme such as hawthorn, fire, blossom, or ribbons.
Let curiosity lead. This is not about doing more. It is about noticing what is already in bloom.
A calm, creative way to mark the turning of the year and move gently into summer.
