Usually celebrated from sundown on February 1st and continuing through the day of February 2nd. Imbolc (pronounced imulk) comes from the Celtic word 'imbolg' meaning 'in the belly'. It is a cross-quarter day on the wheel of the year calendar and marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.
This pretty poster displays history, family-friendly activities, and tips for celebrating the IMBOLC festival from the wheel of the year calendar. It is a PDF download, so you can print it repeatedly. It is an ideal display item for learning about European history and ancient festivals.
The wheel of the year's eight festivals honour the practices of our Western European ancestors, who shared a deep respect for nature and the earth.
