The wheel of the year calendar represents the cycle of life and the Earth’s seasonal journey around the sun. It follows 8 phases, each celebrated by a festival or 'sabbat day'. The 8 points represent the lunar calendar equinoxes, solstices, and cross-quarter days. The wheel's eight festivals honour the practices of our Western European ancestors (mainly Germanic and Celtic). Many of us today find ourselves looking to their old ways, traditions and beliefs - seeking a connection to our earth that has unfortunately been lost in modern times.
