This is the ‘first harvest’ and a cross-quarter feast day. ‘Lammas’ is pagan and comes from the Anglo-Saxon phrase ‘loaf mass’. Also referred to as ‘Lughnasadh’ (pronounced ‘loo-na-sa’) after the Celtic festival of Lugh.
