Autumn Full Moons | September to November | Seasonal nature, folklore and activity pack
Follow the changing season from September into November through three of autumn’s best-known full moons: the Harvest Moon, Hunter’s Moon and Beaver Moon.
The Autumn Moons Pack is a 90-page printable collection exploring the Moon alongside autumn nature, folklore, cultural traditions, art, poetry, science, food and creativity. It is designed for mixed-age families and works particularly well for home education, seasonal learning and nature study, but there is no need to work through it from beginning to end. Dip into the parts that suit your family, follow one full moon, or return to the pack each autumn.
If you bought the 2025 Autumn Moons Pack previously, you don’t need to buy it again. I’ve completely refreshed and expanded the pack, and the new edition is yours as a free update. I like these resources to be something families can return to year after year, so when I substantially improve an existing pack, I want previous customers to benefit too. You can download the latest version from your Payhip download purchases page, or from your original post-purchase email. If you enjoy the new edition and would like to make a small donation (either here, or by entering a 'pay what you want' amount on a freebie listing) towards the time spent researching, rewriting, illustrating and updating it, that would be very much appreciated, but it is entirely optional.
This was the very first seasonal Moon pack I made for Dartmoor Kin, and since then the collection has grown through winter, spring and summer. Somewhere along the way, the newer packs developed their own clearer style, with fuller folklore and cultural stories, better art and poetry studies, more nature observation, and pages that are easier to print and use. So I went back to where it all began. I’ve refreshed and expanded this Autumn Moons Pack while keeping the parts I still loved. I’ve corrected typos and a few errors, because I am, inconveniently, only human. I’ve improved and checked the cultural myths, expanded some of the art, poetry and nature study content, added new activities, recipes and colouring pages, and removed the old ink-heavy page borders so the whole pack is much kinder to home printers.
Each month has its own section, beginning with what is changing outdoors. September explores harvest, migration and the autumn equinox; October moves into falling leaves, fungi, deer rutting and the darker Hunter’s Moon; November follows bare branches, frost, winter visitors and the quieter turn towards winter. The monthly nature journal pages encourage children to notice what is actually happening around them rather than treating autumn as a fixed list of things to find.

There are cross-curricular links throughout the pack, but it is deliberately flexible. Younger children might enjoy the stories, crafts, colouring and nature hunts, while older children can go further with the cultural material, poetry and art discussion, research prompts, journalling and creative writing.
Some pages invite you outside. Others are for a wet afternoon at the kitchen table. You might follow the full moon each month, make a tiny acorn mushroom, watch for migrating birds, bake apples, read a poem beside the fire, or simply look out of the window and notice that the trees have changed again.
There is no expectation to complete everything. Think of the pack as something to keep with your seasonal resources and return to each year.
